I had to make changes in my life. I was getting worse. I stopped going to the gym and I was heading down hill fast.

When I was in my early twenties I was pretty much a gym junkie. Always training, lifting heavy weights and had a good solid body. Then things started to go astray as I approach my thirties. Bit by bit my training became all over the place. I had a general rule that I would try and get to the gym at least 4 times a week. I was working to a simple plan of Monday workout Chest and Triceps, Tuesday Legs, Wednesday was my day off, Thursday Back and Biceps, Friday Shoulders and Abs. Guess how often I actually made it to the gym each week? One average it was twice, sometimes 3 sessions. Rarely did I ever do a full 4 sessions in one week.

Here's the interesting thing. Each day I would look at myself in the mirror and be very unhappy and kept saying to myself that, "Next Week, I will definitely lift my game and get back to being committed to 4 sessions from now on"......... it never happened.  

​40 ​yrs old

Consequently year after year went by and eventually I just stopped going. I was 30 when that happened. By 40 my weight had ballooned out to 100 Kgs and I suffered from very heavy depression.

​Life got so bad that if I didn't do something soon, I was never going to get out of the place I was in. ​When I learnt what I had to do everything changed. Suddenly I found motivation, determination and above all commitment. 

The turning point happened one day when lying on lounge staring at the TV. I was an advert on one of those obscure TV stations you barely ever watch. It was an advert for a 12 week training program. In that moment something inside made me sit up and listen more intently, and then I realised this was what I had been looking for. I knew that I needed to do this. 

Even before the advert was finished I was on the computer and signing myself up to the program. At the time I didn't fully understand my decision and I was certainly going against my natural instinct which is to think things through first. This time was different though and I knew I had to do this program.

​This 12 Week Challenge become the Most important commitment I had ever made in my life.

​​​​​It became the most important commitment because it was what I learnt along the way. It wasn't just about going through a series of training exercises each week until the end. it was much more than that.

What happened to me was I changed completely. The challenge helped me to develop a goal. For me that goal was to lose weight and tone up. It gave me the time frame to complete it in which was 12 weeks. It gave me a diet plan. I created my training plan. So the only thing left for me to do was to work the plan.

​Even though losing weight and toning up was a primary goal of mine, the ultimate goal for me was to finish what I started. THAT! Was the real goal. That was what I needed most. If I could stay focused for 12 weeks and complete the challenge then I knew I could break through the barriers that were holding me back and I would never get as fat or depressed again.

And so I went to work. Every day I ate what I was told, I followed the training program and worked the plan one day at a time. At the end of 12 weeks I had changed my life round. Broke free of the depression and the found that spark for life again.

  • Set Your Goal. 
    Setting your goal is an absolute must do. Think about it, how can you achieve the success you want if you haven't even clarified what you want? When you know want you want you focus your mind. You set up the direction to travel and make your first commitment. Keep your goal simple and focus on one goal at a time? 
  • Set Your Time Frame 
    Setting a time to complete your goal is a key element that will drive you forward towards success. If you set a goal but leave it open to achieving 'whenever' then then first thing that you allow to happen is distractions. Life is full of distractions and when they happen it becomes very easy for you to justify 'why you can't train today' or 'why you can't stick to your diet plan today'. To achieve the success you want you must set the time frame in which to achieve it.  
  • Create a Plan                                                                                                                                    Without a plan to follow your chances of achieving the success you want are zero. No matter what you want to achieve in life you always need a plan to follow. With training you want to plan out the following. Decide how many days per week will you train. What you will train each day and how long you will train for.
  • Work Your Plan
    When you are working through your plan don't look at the complete time frame you have to complete your goal in , sometimes that can get overwhelming. It is much better just to look at the week ahead. At first it may seem like there's a long way to go but it wont take long before you realise your powering through the weeks.

That's the big question isn't it. How do I do this? All of this might feel quite overwhelming and make you want to quit right now. There are a couple of options you can choose from. Firstly is the internet. It's full of different types of workouts, goal setting articles and diet plans. And if you have the time to research what you need to do then I say go for it. You're going to find a lot of very useful information.
